About the Author

Mary Dixon Lake was born in New York City and currently works as a Reading Recovery® teacher in the New York public schools. She has written several children’s books and was inspired to write this one when she found a photo of her son at three years old, eating a peach and covered with juice. Mary lives in Bronx, New York, with her husband, their two children, and their cat Tiger.

About the Illustrator

Aaron Boyd made his picture book debut with Babu's Song. He has illustrated a number of works for the educational and children's magazine markets, including two books for LEE & LOW's Bebop Books imprint. He lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was born. Visit him online at ab illustration.
