About the Author

Phillis Gershator was born in New York City. She worked as a children's librarian and has written several books for children. Her work has received several honors including the Anne Izard Storyteller's Choice Award and selection by "Reading Rainbow." Phillis and her husband live in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where she saw and heard the goat that inspired this story.

About the Illustrator

Sonia Lynn Sadler is an illustrator and a fine artist. Growing up she traveled to many countries and lived in five different states. Currently splitting her time between Maryland and New Jersey, Sadler focuses on depicting the cultures, lives, and stories of peoples of African descent.
