About the Author

Barbara Shook Hazen is an award-winning author of numerous books for children. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, and now lives in New York City. Barbara got the idea for this story from the messy streets she sometimes sees in New York. She would love to have a dog or cat, but is allergic to them, so she sometimes writes stories about these pets instead.

About the Illustrator

As a child, Doris spent her free time drawing pictures she had memorized from her favorite books. Now a full-time artist, Doris lives in Far Hills, New Jersey, with her husband.
