Jay and Ben
by Andrew L. Egel, Ph.D.
"Jay and Ben is a wonderful book that provides teachers with a method for teaching a variety of skills to children with disabilities. The ability of children with disabilities to understand and learn from the story is heightened by the quality of the materials and the fact that many will be able to relate to the story itself. The authors have a created a product that teachers can use to teach students to match pictures to their corresponding word as well as matching word to word. These skills are important because they are typically part of reading programs for children with disabilities. In addition, the layout of the illustrations will enable teachers to provide instruction on functional skills such as buttering toast, brushing teeth, and getting dressed."
