The results of LEE & LOW's first student drawing contest are in! Based on the story Can You Top That? three classes were asked to come up with the most outrageous animal. Different mediums (colored pencils, crayons, chalk, paint, collage, etc.) were used resulting in wildly different outcomes (see below). The only requirement was that the animal have an unusual number of some body part. Aside from this, the sky was truly the limit! Drawing contests are a great way to get your students to express their creativity in a wacky, fun-filled activity.
Special thanks to first grade teachers Belle Akers of Convent of the Sacred Heart Elementary School in San Francisco, CA, Michelle Washington of the Stewart School in Chicago, IL, and Jennifer Skolar of the James M. Curley School in Jamaica Plains, MA, for letting their classes participate in our drawing contest. We would also like to thank the students for their fresh and wonderful works of art.
Three winners from each class received autographed copies of Can You Top That? Both winners and honorable mentions have their drawings posted below for the world to admire. Enjoy!
