Fervent young conservationists will find much to savor in this true story. . . . This story has a first-person point of view revolving around Walking Coyote and others, adding a dramatic angle to the already-compelling success story of the buffalo recovery effort. The author, an award-winning Abenaki writer, is well matched with the book’s illustrator; Farnsworth relies on accuracy and realism but paints with a modernist’s hand. A very nice effort that will be appreciated by young audiences.
