Hot, Hot Roti for Dada-ji
Review
By Carla McAllister, New Gloucester Public Library
Aneel’s family is Indian. His grandparents have come all the way from a village in India to live with his family and they tell great tales. Aneel learns to bake Indian flatbread called roti, a bread that supposedly gives his grandfather great power. A short glossary is included which Hindi words are translated into English. This would be a great addition to a collection serving diverse ethnicities. The illustrations are very well done. There is a lot of text for a picture book, so some might prefer to catalog this as a juvenile selection.
