Bird
Review
By Yana V. Rodgers, Rutgers Department of Women’s and Gender Studies
This powerful book beautifully depicts the story of a young boy caught in between the sweet innocence of youth and the harsh realities of addiction and death. Children mature enough to handle these topics may find inspiration in a character who turns to art and a trusted friend for comfort. The illustrations—rendered in a combination of watercolor and gouache paints, charcoal, and pen—are stunning and original.
