Yummy
Review
By Comics Waiting Room
Neri and DuBurke have taken the true story of Yummy’s rise and fall as a gangsta and woken a narrative around it from the perspective of what it would have been like to have been one of the kids in the neighborhood that went to school with the boy. Even though that aspect is fictionalized, it actually lends a bit more authenticity to Yummy’s tale- it allows for a wider discussion of opposing views on the boy’s life. . . . Wisely, the creators allow you to draw your own conclusions on that one. The script and story put together by Neri are spare and concise. No words are wasted, no pages over-extend the story. Instead, the writer allows DuBurke plenty of latitude in presenting the tale. In so much of what happens in Yummy’s life, words truly aren’t necessary. The pictures are, indeed, worth thousands of words. In turn, Yummy is worth your time. —Comics Waiting Room
