The Movies, The Academy Awards and Implicit Bias

By The Anti-Defamation League (ADL)

In this high school lesson from the ADL, students will reflect on their own experiences and opinions about movies, analyze demographic information about the movie industry and explore the role of implicit bias. The lesson is aligned to the Common Core Standards.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has created the Current Events Classroom, a collection of timely and relevant brief lesson plans that assist K-12 educators in teaching news topics and other issues of the day. Each lesson plan helps students analyze the topic through an anti-bias, diversity and social justice lens.

Lesson plan for the Academy Awards is available on the website as The Movies, The Academy Awards and Implicit Bias and as a PDF.
