About the Creators

was born in Mendacino County, California. She is a cultural anthropologist, and after teaching anthropology, including Native American history and culture, for many years, she became interested in writing for young readers. In this story, Leslie wanted to share her love of handcrafted objects, like Native American pottery. Leslie lives in Seattle, Washington.

was born in Los Angeles, California. He loves to travel, especially to Asia, and to read books about history. To illustrate this story, Bryn referred to sketches and information he gathered during a visit with Hopi Pueblos. Bryn currently lives in Friday Harbor, Washington, with his wife, their two children, and their six pets which include one dog, two cats, and three ducks.
