George Crum and the Saratoga Chip

Review
By Field Guide to Parenting

A picture book biography of a man who grew up in the 1830’s in New York State and inadvertantly created the potato chip. Racism is part of life, yet George became a chef at a fancy restaurant and an annoying customer leads George to fry a thinner and thinner potato. An interesting biography and text, but award-winning Frank Morrison again creates masterful acrylic paintings that bring the story to vibrant life. The exaggerated expressions and movements are the hallmark of Mr. Morrison’s work, always bringing an exuberant vitality to the page. Great story; great illustrations.
