Hammer of Witches
Review
By Fangs for the Fantasy
In terms of gender, race, religious persecution and colonialism, Hammer of Witches is excellent. Normally speaking, historical fantasy is not something I read but Hammer of Witches was really engaging. I particularly enjoyed the folklore from various cultures. At no point did they feel apporpriative which is something many authors fail to pull off half as well as Mlawski did. It’s not a quick read, coming in at 400 pages but it is an interesting exploration with a fascinating twist in terms of recognizing the damage that colonialism has reeked upon the so-called third world.
