The Mangrove Tree
Review
By SWON Libraries
The authors wrote in two styles. Young readers and listeners will enjoy the rhythmic read-aloud story on the left-hand side of the page, and older readers will appreciate the true account of Dr. Sato’s venture on the right-hand side. The reference aids, found in the back of the book, add important facts and valuable information about Dr. Sato’s life. Both enjoyable and educational, the text takes readers to another culture and introduces them to a man who realized a problem and worked out a solution. Children will be drawn to the detailed, colorful illustrations that create a positive picture of Eritrea. This book proves to be valuable for science, social studies, and art units.
