Followers of the successful and prolific writing careers of Ginger and Frances Park will hail the versatility shown in this story for children. It is more light-hearted than their previously published children’s books, but so effective. Illustrator Grace Lin’s precise, colorful style complements the simplicity of Yum Yung’s request for a bagel. Introducing a traditionally Jewish food item into the story creates global integration of the best of all worlds. Anyone who has ever eaten a warm bagel will enjoy this book.
