Bringing Asha Home

Waiting for a new baby is always difficult, but when your parents are adopting a baby from India to add to your biracial family, it takes even longer. This is a gentle, slow moving story best suited for a parent to read to a child, but libraries in racially diverse communities might find a need also. The story also touches on the Hindu holiday, Raksha Bandhan, or Rakhi, which celebrates brothers and sisters. The soft, pastel illustrations add a dreamlike quality to the story and reflect a wide variety of ethnicities for those searching to see themselves in a book.
