Grimes' simple, evocative poetry is both accessible and inviting. The back matter even includes her notes and thoughts about the form of poetry she uses. For close observers, Elizabeth Zunon's luminous illustrations shed light upon the materials the reader sees in the opening illustrations, satisfyingly filling in the background. Poems in the Attic is a nuanced, thoughtful book sure to appeal to readers who've enjoyed the benefit (and difficulties) of frequent household relocations.
