LEE & LOW BOOKS was founded in 1991 and published its first list in spring 1993. One of the books on our debut list was Baseball Saved Us, which to this day is our bestselling backlist title. The first-ever picture book about Japanese internment camps, Baseball Saved Us helped define us as a risk taker when it comes to subject matter, and set the standard for many of the books we have published since then.
Over the years, LEE & LOW has earned a reputation for high-quality and groundbreaking books for young readers, with many of our titles winning major awards and honors. Here is an abbreviated list:
Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Medal
Parrots Over Puerto Rico
LEE & LOW BOOKS has also received praise from a broad range of media outlets, such as The New York Times, School Library Journal, Publishers Weekly, CBS This Morning, USA Today, Kirkus Reviews, and The Horn Book.
Publishing books that resonate with the children who read them is something we never take for granted. It is what inspires us to keep publishing books about everyone and for everyone. To learn more about LEE & LOW visit our About Us page.
