A Full Moon is Rising
Review
By JUNO Magazine
My children were captivated by the beautiful images of cultures around the world enjoying the full moon – a camel fair in India, coral spawning in the Caribbean, a view from the international space station, a Jewish celebration, howling wolves, the goddess Artemis’s ruined temple and skywatching in downtown New York. It gives a real flavour of many cultures, and whilst informative, the poems were less engaging for young readers.
There is a strong educational aspect to it, with a world map with the featured countries highlighted, the phases of the moon in the Northern and Southern hemispheres and more detailed prose explanations about the background to all the scenes.
